Week #5

Week #5 September 24th & 26th

PEE WEE DIVISION:

Saveology.com played a spirited game despite having only 8 players show up for the game.  Ryan Kalman had a few great runs up the middle breaking tackles and running hard.  Skyler blocked well on the offensive line.  Max Burgen played great on defense and made some touchdown saving tackles.

ROR Law Firm was tied going into halftime, and our Offense controlled the ball for most of the second half with the ground and pound.  The Silver Pee Wee O line dominated up in the middle.  With RT Elan Warren, “Big E”, providing the push the Silver Dragons needed to keep moving the ball and the sticks.  Zack Stevens rushed for 2 TDs.  Devon Spring also gave a solid rushing performance.
But it was our defense that won the game.  Our corners, Noah Michaelson and Blake Finizio did a great job of stopping the outside rush.  A fumble by East Boca in the final minute, recovered by Ty Stevens, sealed the deal.

FRESHMEN DIVISION:

Orange Dragons American Bancard 6 VS Silver Dragons Hurricane Grill & Wings 0

American Bancard: The touchdown came on a beautiful pass from Ben Presser to Sawyer Sethman down the middle.  Bryce Simon and Steven Tinsley lead the Orange Crush defense once again.  Tyler Moch did a great job on special teams and holding down the corner.

Hurricane Grill & Wings Silver Dragons drop another heartbreaker to the American Bancard Orange Dragons by the score of 6-0.  The Silver Dragons played with a lot of heart finding out just 12 hours before that their leader, QB Gabe Contento, was going to be out 3-4 weeks with a separated shoulder.  Back-up Justin Guilfu and Christian Opalsky, played admirably as they started chipping away at the Orange Dragon’s defense in the second half. The defense continues to be the foundation of this team as it only allowed 4 first downs and one long pass play for the only score of the game.  Although both teams had their share of injuries, back-up cornerback, Daniel Coelho, and back-up defensive end, Nate Alexis, had solid performances filling in their respective positions.  As we know, champions are not crowned in September and the Silver Dragons are now more motivated than ever to represent West Boca in the Boca Bowl.

JUNIOR VARSITY DIVISION:

IFII.COM 20 VS East Boca Falcons 0

Nice showing by our defense and offensive line.  Miles Franklin had a 50-yard touchdown; Michael Lizzio had a fumble recovery.  Our quarterback Aaron Angelos ran one in for a touchdown.  Nate Nelson had a touchdown, interception, and 2 fumble recoveries.  Carson Coons added a 25-yard return from a kickoff.  We are extremely happy with the team approach to our offense and defense.

JV Orange West Boca Metals 20 vs. JV Light Blue West Boca Medical Center 0

West Boca Metals: Offense:  Shane Ellis (C) manned up and played with one useable arm to lead the offensive line in opening holes for running backs Patrick Consbruck (TD), Jonathan Swartz (TD), and Brennan Corey (TD).  Defense:  The defense came through again with another shutout.  Outstanding pass coverage by James Bentayou (S), Jonathan Schwartz (OLB), and Brennan Corey (OLB) (INT) kept the opponents at bay and solidified the win.

West Boca Medical Center: Eric Eckhart had 6 passing completions for 52 Yards.  Thomas Levin had 3 receptions. Ian Lucas had 3 receptions.  Dominick Alleva had 6 tackles on the day.  Zach Elliot forced a defensive fumble, Zach Schneider recovers the ball.

VARSITY DIVISION:

Varsity Gold Saveology.com 24 – Silver Wristband Specialty 12.

Saveology.com: Outstanding defense by Marc Goldschmidt.  2 Td scored by Brandon Rashkin, TD pass by Mathew Gross, Robert Bagley scored on a long run.  Kyle Romano outstanding plays on offense.

Wristband Specialty:  Proved to be a worthy Dragon Bowl contender after nearly pulling off a huge upset over the dominant Gold team who has only allowed 3 first downs this season. The Silver Dragons started with the ball and scored on the third play of the game with a 53-yard touchdown run by running back Frank Sonnie. The Dragons remained strong only down 16-6 at the half. Opening up the second half, Gold’s offense took the field looking to add to their halftime lead. After an unbelievable defensive series with great plays by DT Jonathan Resnick, LB Dante Gulla, and DE Tahj Laguerre, the Silver defense was able to hold the Gold offense to a 4th and long. With Silver parents, friends and family members cheering Silver on from the sideline, Bradley Feingold was able to slip into the backfield for a huge sack to force a turnover on downs. The silver offense went back to work with a long drive, which ended on a 30 yard touchdown run behind the dominant Silver offensive line by running back Frank Sonnie. The score became 12-16; a 1 possession game. The Silver defense aimed for one final stop but could not prevail. In the end, a much-improved Silver Dragons team could not outlast the Gold Dragons, ending the game with a final score of 24-12.

Varsity Orange Dragons Evolution Fitness VS Light Blue Dragons Father Nature’s Lawnscapes postponed due to weather.
